I think before to start degree in IT your son has to complete A level be oz GCSE is O level and he will be not eligible to get admission in mentioned universities

asim replied on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 07:59 PM

All of these universities are good but your son wont be able to learn anything if he is not up to it.

Qasim sb is right. he needs to have A levels or FSc before entering any IT university or college.

AOA,
I am retired now, but I am fortunate to start the IT job back in 1992. later I moved to wireless-Communication (3G/4G) job, kindly remember 3G is 16 year old technology.
Please advice your son to study in detail at least two languages and those are Visual C++ and Visual Java++ because in almost all the computer/IT/Telecommunication/Wireless-Communication fields these two languages are must. All the international companies would be very happy to know that the job seeking candidate has done Visual C++ and Java++

Salam,

AoA,

Being a university professor, I agree with Ali bhai's recommendations except GIKI. I would exclude GIKI from the list of the top institutions. It used to be a good institution in the past but it is no more among the top ones. You may also consider FAST. If you live in or around Lahore, the preference should be as following.
1. UET
2. LUMS
3. FAST
However, NUST should be the first preference and FAST second preference if you live in or around Islamabad.

Best regards,

sorry dear Ali2,
I meant Visual Java, as most of the scripts are in perl in 3G/4G, but these two languages are enough to edit perl scripts.
Thanks for the correction.

Asalam,
Brother in Islam

I'm IT professional, for IT institute matters, but the important thing is his own interest in IT. because in IT things are changing on daily basis, and he should be passionate. I'm Ashiq type of person, and I never enjoy working in IT.

asim replied on Friday, October 10, 2014 03:04 PM

All of these universities are good but your son wont be able to learn anything if he is not up to it. I have seen hundreds of people graduating from these universities in IT and move abroad and be successful, so it shouldn't matter which one he goes to. But if you are going to live in Pakistan while he study here, then choose the one which is near to your home.

Dear Ali2,

I enjoyed working as IT & Telecom professional, but later years were getting bored with technical things, as I was getting old.

But to our younger generation, we should highlight the importance of programming as the size and function of hardware is decreasing, because the function and volume of programming is increasing, so we shall atleast guide to the yonger generation the importance of programming. If Iranians can take away the control of the American drone from American Army, and can safely make it land in Iran, then we can see clearly the importance of programming, better programming can do wonders, and it is the future. So I Think, we should at least highlight it, to our younger generation.

Eid Mubarak to you and also wish you good luck with the Ashick personality, the one who has not loved, has missed alot in this World.

Asalam,
Brother in Islam
